1. The service
UnFraudFilter (the "App") is a Shopify app that ingests order risk-assessment data from your Shopify store, applies a deterministic scoring engine using signals you configure, and — at your option and per your configuration — instructs Shopify to apply a tag, place an order on hold, send a customer-verification email, or cancel an order.
By installing the App you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not install the App.
2. The "decision-support" principle
The App is a decision-support tool. The Merchant remains solely responsible for all order-processing decisions made on the Merchant's store.
Specifically:
- Our score and recommendations are derived from a finite set of signals computed from data Shopify provides. They are not infallible.
- We do not insure or guarantee your orders against fraud or chargebacks.
- We will not be liable for losses arising from fraudulent orders we did not flag, or for legitimate orders that were cancelled, held, or required verification due to our scoring.
- The Merchant is responsible for reviewing flagged orders, choosing whether to enable automatic actions, and overriding any decision the Merchant disagrees with.
- Auto-cancel will not fire below score 75 even if you configure it for a lower band; this is a safety floor we enforce, not a guarantee that it will never wrongly cancel a legitimate order.
If you are not comfortable with the limitations above, do not enable automatic actions. The App's default install is review-only — it will only flag orders for your manual review and will take no action without your explicit configuration.
3. Subscription and billing
The App offers a free tier and paid tiers. Pricing for paid tiers is shown in the App and at our public pricing page.
- Billing is monthly, in advance, via Shopify's billing system.
- You may cancel at any time from inside the App. Billing stops on the day you cancel. We do not pro-rate refunds for the unused portion of the current month.
- We will not raise the price you are paying without giving you at least 60 days' written notice (via the email associated with your Shopify account and a public changelog). You may cancel before any price change takes effect.
- We do not charge per-transaction fees or take any percentage of your gross merchandise volume.
If we are unable to collect payment after a reasonable retry period, we will downgrade your account to the free tier and stop processing orders that exceed the free tier limit.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for purposes other than fraud screening on your own Shopify store(s).
- Reverse-engineer, sublicense, or attempt to extract our scoring logic for resale.
- Use the App to discriminate against customers on the basis of legally protected characteristics. (Country-of-origin signals are common in fraud screening; the Merchant is responsible for their own compliance with anti-discrimination law.)
- Place a stress-test or load-generation pattern on the App's webhook endpoint outside of normal Shopify operation.
5. Service availability
We will use commercially reasonable efforts to keep the App available, but we make no specific uptime guarantee. Shopify webhooks are retried by Shopify if our service is briefly unavailable; we honor those retries idempotently so that no order is processed twice.
If the App is unavailable for more than 24 consecutive hours, you may pause or cancel your subscription with no further obligation.
6. Data and privacy
Our handling of Merchant and Customer data is governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the App you agree to that policy.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- The App is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or accuracy of fraud detection.
- Our aggregate liability arising out of or related to the App is limited to the lesser of (a) the total fees you paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) US$1,000.
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, or loss of goodwill, even if we were advised of the possibility.
8. Indemnification
You will indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, loss, or damages, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of (a) your breach of these Terms, (b) your use of the App in violation of applicable law, or (c) your handling of orders, customer communications, or chargebacks based on the App's output.
9. Term and termination
These Terms remain in effect for as long as you have the App installed. You may uninstall and terminate at any time from your Shopify admin. We may terminate or suspend your access if you materially breach these Terms; we will give written notice and a reasonable opportunity to cure where the breach is curable.
After termination, we will delete your data within 48 hours per the Privacy Policy.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States and the State in which the Operator is registered, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in that jurisdiction, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
11. Changes to these terms
We will notify Merchants of material changes to these Terms at least 30 days in advance, via the email associated with your Shopify account. Your continued use of the App after the effective date of a change constitutes acceptance of the change.
